Train set to perform John Mayer at Bethel Woods

Train set to perform John Mayer at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts’ Pavilion Stage, 200 Hurd Road, Bethel, Wednesday at 8 p.m. In the 2000s John Mayer was leveraging his two distinct gifts: His guitar skills and his aptitude for classy pop rock songs. Putting those abilities to use both on his solo albums and with the John Mayer Trio, his blues rock band, Mayer earned big chart success, becoming the sensitive singer songwriter of choice for hordes of Americans. In 2009, Mayer performed an instrumental version of Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” at Jackson’s memorial service, and in November, Mayer released his fourth studio album, “Battle Studies,” which debuted at number one.Over the course of 15 years, On music history train has made its mark with their Grammy Award winning song “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)” and chart topping singles “Meet Virginia” and “Calling All Angels.” Since forming in San Francisco in 1994, the multi platinum selling band has traveled a long, successful and sometimes arduous journey. Following their 2006 release, “For Me, It’s You,” the band took a three year hiatus, and in that time, Train has, for all intents and purposes, experienced an epiphany as a whole. Now, with their fifth album, “Save Me San Francisco,” Train has channeled its early days, revisiting the roots rock sound that has made the band such a tour de force and, in turn, celebrating a super hit on radio with “Hey, Soul Sister”.

Concert Rescheduled to John Mayer

The John Mayer concert wasn't supposed to start until 7 p.m., but the concert still had to be postponed. You can see a video of John Mayer performing a song called "Covered In Rain" on YouTube. On Sunday it was Mayer's Hershey Park Stadium stage covered in rain. So much so, the concert had to be postponed.
"There was water inside the drums. There was water in the piano," said Hershey Park Stadium Spokesperson Melissa Stradnick. "There was water in places the crew didn't even know the water could get to and the crazy part, everything was covered in tarps." Video shot by the road crew as rain ripped sideways through the stage is posted on John Mayer's website, along with a message about the show being postponed until Aug. 5. All the concert gear and instruments have to be dried out and shipped to Cincinnati for a Mayer concert on Tuesday. Clair Brothers from Lititz in Lancaster County, had to move soggy sound equipment. Even the 50-foot video screen on stage has water inside of it. Fans are being used to dry out overhead spotlights that had to be taken apart because they were so wet. Some John Mayer fans who can't make the postponed show are not happy and would rather have a refund. "Hersheypark should have done something to make this situation right, because John Mayer is representing them," abc27 viewer Ashley Campbell said to us in an e-mail. But as with most concerts that are postponed but not canceled - no refunds. "Mother Nature had other intentions yesterday, and it wasn't for a John Mayer concert," said Stradnick. The John Mayer concert with Train is rescheduled for Thursday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. Anyone with questions can call the Hersheypark Box Office at 534-3911.

John Mayer: John Mayer Serves Up More Than Music at Show

John Mayer gave fans heading to his Jones Beach show a hint on Wednesday afternoon that tailgating that night might be something out of the ordinary.
“If you're coming to the Jones Beach show tonight, turn your geo tagging on when you tweet. I wanna talk to tailgaters,” he tweeted at 3:33 p.m. on Wednesday.
Fairfield’s favorite crooners’ surprise came rolling in as fans waited for his show to begin. It was a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream truck and he was scooping out free samples of Heath Bar and Milk and Cookies, Rolling Stone reports.
"We had an idea of catering to the tailgating crowd, and the epitome of the sound of summer is ice cream truck bells," Michael McDonald, Mayer's manager, told Rolling Stone.

Mayer’s heading here for a show on Aug. 7 at the Comcast Theatre, so local fans might want to watch for John’s tweets, because you never know if he’ll do something here.
"It'll pop up a few more times. It gives a random lucky few fans the ability to have that intimate moment (with Mayer) before they're in a crowd of 15,000." McDonald told Rolling Stone – and added that Mayer’s summer vibe is "very light, very airy and trying to have a lot of fun and give people a great night to remember."
