John Mayer 'sorry' for using racially offensive language in interview

John Mayer has apologised for using racially offensive language in an interview with Playboy magazine.

Mayer took to his official Twitter page, Twitter.com/johncmayer, to apologise for using "the 'N word'" in the interview, which appears in the February 2010 edition of Playboy.

In a series of continuing tweets, he wrote: "Re: using the 'N word' in an interview. I am sorry that I used the word. And it's such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself."

He added: "It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualise using it, because I realise that there's no intellectualising a word that is so emotionally charged."

Later, he again apologised on Twitter for his language in the interview, saying, "I should have never said the word and I will never say it again." He added that he is thinking about being less "raw" in interviews.
